Early Life and Background
Born on 22 January 1955 in Melbourne, Victoria, Graeme Peebles developed an early interest in art, particularly printmaking. This passion was nurtured during his formative years, leading him to pursue formal education in the arts.

Artistic Development and Education
Peebles studied printmaking at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) from 1973 to 1975. During this period, he was introduced to the mezzotint technique, which became central to his artistic practice. In 1976–77, he furthered his studies in Europe, focusing on mezzotint processes in Italy and England. Upon returning to Australia, Peebles lectured in printmaking at RMIT from 1981 to 1986, sharing his expertise with emerging artists.

Major Works and Exhibitions
Peebles has held numerous solo exhibitions, including "Underwater" at Australian Galleries, Melbourne, in 2024, and "A Survey of Mezzotints 1979–2019" at the same venue in 2019. His works have also featured in group exhibitions such as "Mondo" in 2024 and "Seascapes" in 2021, both at Australian Galleries, Melbourne. Notable works include "Intimacy" (1983) and "Wilson's Prom" (1984), which are part of the Art Gallery of New South Wales collection.

Specialising in mezzotint, Peebles is recognised for his meticulous craftsmanship and ability to achieve rich tonal gradations. His subjects range from still lifes to landscapes, often imbued with metaphorical significance.
