Yardley pursued formal art education, completing a Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting at Monash University in 1995. She furthered her studies with Honours in Drawing at RMIT University in 1999. Currently, she is undertaking a PhD at Curtin University, focusing on her artistic practice and research.

Throughout her career, Yardley has exhibited extensively across Australia.
