Christine Sun Kim's mid-career survey, "All Day All Night," at the Whitney Museum of American Art, offers an in-depth exploration of the intersections of sound, language, and communication. The exhibition, on view from February 8 to July 6, 2025, features over 90 works spanning from 2011 to the present, including drawings, site-specific murals, paintings, video installations, and sculptures.

A highlight of the exhibition is her site-responsive mural, "Ghost(ed) Notes" (2024), recreated across multiple walls on the eighth floor. This piece exemplifies Kim's innovative approach to visualizing sound and silence, challenging traditional perceptions of auditory art.

Kim, who was born Deaf, utilizes her unique perspective to engage audiences with the complexities of sound and communication. Her work often incorporates elements of American Sign Language (ASL), musical notation, and infographics, providing insightful commentary on the Deaf experience and the nuances of interpersonal interaction.

The exhibition underscores Kim's relentless experimentation and dedication to sharing her lived experiences, inviting viewers to reconsider their understanding of sound and silence.
